Democracy: The Great Leveller

The announcement that criminals incarcerated in Britain's prisons will be given the right to vote heralds a new low in our decadent society. There is a sense, though, that we can expect a mighty move of God soon for the simple reason we cannot go any lower.
The aim of democracy has always been to reduce all men to the lowest commonality. This latest announcement on prisoners being given the franchise plainly says to every one of us that the basest pedophile has the same say in the running of the UK as the noblest and most charitable among us. The sickest, vilest murderer has as much say in the governance of Britain as the best of us. This is the true face of democracy. Under the guise of freedom for all we discover that this is what it actually means - the freedom to participate in the making of laws and the election of our rulers.
Here's a question that arises from this: How will the pedophile vote in an election? Or the hardened criminal? For the party softest on crime perchance? It's time we realised that democracy is the greatest curse to befall us as a nation. The notion of majority rule must be repugnant to those who love justice and right. Of course I am writing this from a Christian viewpoint. That is where I am coming from. And this latest "advance" of democracy highlights the horrors that befall a nation which has abandoned God and His Word. Post-Christian Britain may mean more freedoms for those among us who desire licence to practise a liberal lifestyle. But we will discover that such freedoms come at a high price.
